Asbestos Abatement

What People are Saying

I intend to share with everyone in my realty office how professional you and your team have been and how quickly you can get test results turned around. If you would drop by some business cards in the mail, I will be sure to introduce you in our next office meeting and give everyone your contact info and my personal recommendation. I look forward to doing business with you!

Asbestos is a mineral fiber commonly used in a variety of building construction materials for insulation and as a fire-retardant. Today, asbestos is most commonly found in older homes, in pipe and furnace insulation materials, asbestos shingles, millboard, textured paints and other coating materials, and floor tiles. Improper attempts to remove these materials can release asbestos fibers into the air in homes, significantly and dangerously increasing asbestos levels in a home.

Under no circumstances should any unlicensed person conduct abatement activities unless under consultation with an abatement firm or state guidelines concerning the proper procedures. Unlicensed abatement can lead to potentially harmful inhalation of friable asbestos fibers, which can have serious health consequences.

Asbestos Abatement - Key Steps

  • NOTE: Disturbed asbestos is very hazardous to occupants, with serious health risks.
  • Complete removal of the asbestos containing material is always recommended. Proper removal and disposal will eliminate any future issues.
  • Sealing or treating the area affected to either bind or coat the material so fibers are not released.
  • Enclosure or encapsulation by placing something over or around the material that prevents release of fibers.
